Laura Aubree Shay

Laura Aubree Shay is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Promotion and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) School of Public Health in San Antonio. Her research focuses on patient-provider communication and decision-making in cancer prevention and control, particularly in adolescent and young adult (AYA) cancer survivorship. She has a background as a pediatric hematology/oncology social worker, providing direct support to patients and caregivers. Her current projects include increasing HPV vaccination rates among childhood cancer survivors and co-directing the Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) evaluation at UT Health San Antonio.

Her research interests span adolescent health, cancer, health equity, and program evaluation. She leads the AYA STAR Lab, a team dedicated to improving outcomes for AYA cancer patients. Contact: Email | +1 (210) 276-9047.
