Laura Arenas García

Laura Arenas García is an Assistant Professor in the Department of German Philology at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB). She holds a doctorate from the University of Alcalá with a thesis on the image of Germany in Spain and national stereotypes in German language classrooms. Her research integrates intercultural communication and comparative cultural studies, focusing on mutual perceptions between Germany and Spain in cinema and media.

• Education: Doctorate in German Philology (University of Alcalá), cum laude with international mention and Extraordinary Doctoral Award 2022 via FPU scholarship.

Research & Grants: Participated in European Social Fund projects ACIS&GALATEA (2018-2019) and AGLAYA (2019-2022). Conducted funded research stays at the University of Innsbruck (Austria) and Aarhus University (Denmark). Affiliated with the high-performance research group RECEPTION (CCHH2019/739).

Teaching: Experienced across educational levels in Spain and Germany. Currently teaches German language courses (I, II, III) tailored to tourism and hotel management degrees at UIB's Hotel Management Center in Mallorca. Previously taught at Rey Juan Carlos University, University of Alcalá, and University of Mannheim (Germany), where she specialized in the history of Spain's education system.
