معرفی
Laura A. Bristow is an Adjunct Associate Professor at the Nordcee department of the University of Southern Denmark. Her research focuses on marine and groundwater biogeochemical processes, particularly nitrogen and carbon cycling, methane oxidation, and microbial ecology in anoxic environments. She contributes to interdisciplinary projects and fieldwork, including expeditions in Costa Rica.
- Primary Affiliation: Department of Biology, University of Southern Denmark
- Research Networks: Nordcee (Center for Ocean Life), DTU (Technical University of Denmark) collaborations
Research Interests span microbial nitrogen cycling, methane dynamics, and biogeochemical modeling. Recent work explores nitrification in groundwater, aerobic/anaerobic methane oxidation in oxygen minimum zones, and carbon fixation parallels between terrestrial and marine systems.
Publication Trends (2022–2023) highlight interdisciplinary approaches combining isotope analysis, metagenomics, and field measurements to study microbial impacts on global element cycles. Key topics include nitrification, methane oxidation, and nitrogen recycling in anoxic zones.
Projects include leading the Recycling versus loss in the marine nitrogen cycle initiative (2019–2022) and participating in the Biogeochemical implications of coastal anoxia (BioCoast, 2022). She conducted fieldwork in Costa Rica's Golfo Dulce in 2018.
Teaching involves co-leading the BB844 MSc Field Course in Marine Biology since 2016, emphasizing hands-on marine research training.
