Laur Kiik is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Department of Social Anthropology, University of Oslo. His research examines the intersections of global environmental catastrophe, nationalism, and geopolitical dynamics in the Burma–China–India borderlands, focusing on the Kachin people's experiences since 2010.
- Research Focus: Nationalism, ethnic conflict, natural resource economies, biodiversity conservation, and wartime societal transformations.
- Projects: Contributes to the Amber Worlds: A Geological Anthropology for the Anthropocene (AMBER) initiative, studying crisis zones shaped by human-nature entanglement.
- Methodology: Ethnographic fieldwork, interdisciplinary integration of humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences.
