Larysa Skivka

Larysa Skivka is a Professor and Head of the Department of Microbiology and General Immunology at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. With an MSc (1988) and ScD (2013) from the same university, she has held research and teaching positions since 1988, including roles at the R.E. Kavetsky Institute of Experimental Pathology, Oncology and Radiobiology.

Her research focuses on phagocyte metabolic polarization in inflammatory diseases like colitis, obesity, neurodegeneration, and cancer. She investigates how metabolic polarization analysis can improve diagnostics and treatment monitoring for these conditions.

Recent publications span cancer immunology, phagocyte biology, and nanomedicine, with emphasis on immunomodulatory drugs, tumor microenvironment dynamics, and inflammation-related disease mechanisms. Her work also explores chronobiology effects on immune cell function.

Methodological expertise includes murine tumor models, phagocyte isolation, flow cytometry, ELISA, and patented intracranial drug delivery systems. Future projects aim to reprogram microglia for glioma treatment and develop diagnostic strategies using metabolic polarization analysis.
