Lars Kooijman is a Research Fellow at Impact Labs and a member of the Steering Committee at the Monash Business Behavioural Laboratory at Monash University. He holds a Doctoral Degree in Engineering from Deakin University (2020–2024), specializing in Vibrotactile stimulation for self-motion sensations in Virtual Reality. His research focuses on Virtual Reality methodologies, psychophysiology, and human factors, with contributions to neuropsychological assessment tools and workplace safety interventions.
Key research areas include eye-tracking, multisensory processing, traffic psychology, and the application of Virtual Reality in education and healthcare. He has co-authored projects funded by the Australian Department of Social Services, focusing on leveraging VR for employment support for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
His work addresses challenges in user experience safety, wearable medical devices, and algorithm optimization for motion cueing systems. He has received the Applied Ergonomics Journal Best Paper Award 2021 for contributions to human factors research. Collaborations span international institutions, with active involvement in driving simulation and pedestrian-vehicle interaction studies.
