Lara Righi serves as Associate Professor in the Department of Chemical, Life and Environmental Sustainability Sciences at Università degli Studi di Parma. Her academic appointments span multiple degree programs including Functional and Sustainable Materials, Pharmacy, Industrial Chemistry, Chemistry, Food Science and Technology, and Zootechnical Sciences.
Her research focuses on advanced materials systems, particularly:
- Glass and ceramic technologies (Ceramics & Glasses, Chemistry and Technology of Glass)
- Sustainable material extraction (cellulose nanocrystals from agricultural waste)
- Metal-organic frameworks for energy applications
- Heusler alloys for shape memory and magnetocaloric effects
- Mechanochemical synthesis methods for green chemistry
Analysis of her 15 most recent publications reveals strong emphasis on sustainable materials development through mechanochemistry, structural characterization of functional materials, and applications in energy conversion. Key trends include waste valorization (agricultural residues, insect biomass), CO2 utilization, and precision engineering of magnetic and structural phase transitions in alloys.
As reference teacher, she coordinates Master's programs in Functional and Sustainable Materials (2024-2026) and serves as tutor for Chemistry degree programs. Her teaching portfolio demonstrates consistent engagement with materials science across chemistry, pharmacy, and food technology disciplines since 2013.
