Dr. Lara E. Bryfonski is an Assistant Professor and Director of LING-001 at Georgetown University's Department of Linguistics within the College of Arts and Sciences. She also serves as the Concentration Head for Applied Linguistics. Her research focuses on second language acquisition (SLA), task-based language teaching (TBLT), language teacher training, interaction and corrective feedback, materials development, study abroad, and research methodologies.
Education: She holds a B.S. in Bilingual Education and a B.A. in Linguistics from Boston University, an M.A. in Linguistics from Georgetown University, and a Ph.D. in Linguistics from Georgetown University.
Her work explores innovative pedagogical approaches, such as the integration of ultrasound tongue imaging in pronunciation teaching and the development of identity measurement tools for heritage language speakers. She leads the Lab for SLA and Task-Based Research and contributes to STARTALK Task initiatives.
