معرفی
Lara Augustijn is a Researcher at the Institute of Sociology, University of Duisburg-Essen, where she has been working since 2018 on the DFG-funded "Family Models in Germany (FAMOD)" project, initially as a research assistant (2018-2021) and currently as a Research Associate (since 2021). Her academic career is centered on family sociology with a specialized focus on post-separation family arrangements and their impacts on children's and parents' well-being.
Her research interests span multiple dimensions of family sociology, particularly examining how different physical custody arrangements affect psychological outcomes. She investigates joint physical custody models ("Wechselmodell"), intergenerational transmission of psychological traits, children's mental health in post-separation contexts, and cross-national comparisons of family policies. Her work employs rigorous quantitative methods analyzing large-scale survey data to uncover patterns in family dynamics after separation or divorce.
Augustijn's publication record demonstrates consistent scholarly output with a clear thematic focus. Her recent articles (2022-2025) predominantly examine the psychological consequences of different custody arrangements, with particular attention to children's well-being, parental adjustment, and the mediating role of co-parenting quality and interparental conflict. Her research takes an international perspective, often comparing Germany with other European countries and North America.
- Doctorate with distinction "summa cum laude" (2020)
As an active contributor to the academic community, Augustijn serves as a peer reviewer for several prominent journals including the Journal of Family Research, Journal of Marriage and Family, and Journal of Family Psychology. She is a member of the Section of Family Sociology of the German Sociological Association (DGS) and regularly presents her findings at national and international conferences. Her ongoing work with the FAMOD project continues to generate important insights into family models and their implications for well-being.
