Laila Abdullah

Dr. Laila Abdullah serves as a Senior Clinical Lecturer in Medical Education at King's College London's Centre for Education within the Faculty of Life Sciences & Medicine. As Teacher Development co-Lead at KUMEC, she recruits, supports, and delivers training for GP tutors through the King's Introduction to Teacher Training course, workshops, and biannual conferences while leading the SPIN programme for newly qualified GPs pursuing medical education careers.

Her educational background features an MSc in Health Professions Education where she researched factors affecting medical students' self-regulated learning during clinical placements. Dr. Abdullah actively contributes to national standards as a member of the Medical Licensing Assessment Applied Knowledge Test item writing group.

Research interests center on medical education innovation, specifically self-regulated learning dynamics, remote consulting pedagogy, cultural competency integration in curricula, and assessment methodologies, reflecting her commitment to evolving medical training frameworks through evidence-based practices.

Her achievements include recognition as a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, highlighting excellence in educational leadership.

Through the KUMEC Teacher Development Programme and MBBS S2Y2 GP tutor support, Dr. Abdullah mentors educators across longitudinal placements while advancing curriculum design via the Study Abroad - Health and Society module and iBSc in Primary Care. Her SPIN programme leadership demonstrates strategic investment in developing future medical education specialists.

Based at Guy's Campus, she drives KUMEC's collaborative network through conference organization and innovative teaching initiatives that bridge clinical practice with educational theory.
