Ladan Momayez is an Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown. She holds a Ph.D. from École Polytechnique de l’Université de Nantes (2004) and has over 26 years of experience in fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and composite materials. Her expertise includes wind tunnel testing, PIV, and turbulence measurements. She has contributed to the Royal Military College of Canada (2011–2020), NASA’s Postdoctoral Program (2019–2021), and Université de Caen-Basse Normandie (2008–2010). She is a member of Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) and serves on editorial boards for journals like Recent Patents on Mechanical Engineering.
Her research focuses on heat transfer enhancement via vortex flows, boundary-layer dynamics, and nanofluid applications in renewable energy systems. She has developed experimental techniques for flow visualization and authored over 30 peer-reviewed articles. Teaching highlights include 15+ courses in fluid mechanics, dynamics, and materials engineering. Key professional activities include journal reviewing for Journal of Wind Engineering, Journal of Applied Fluid Mechanics, and Scientific Reports.
Recent work includes studies on turbulent wake symmetry, hybrid nanofluid solar systems, and wind farm impacts on Lake Erie. She collaborates internationally and emphasizes sustainable energy solutions through interdisciplinary approaches.
