معرفی
Lachlan Toohey is a Researcher at the Australian Centre for Field Robotics (ACFR) within the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Sydney. He holds a PhD from the University of Sydney, alongside a BE and BSc. His research focuses on autonomous systems, cooperative localization, underwater robotics, and marine engineering. He teaches MTRX1702 Mechatronics 1.
Key research interests include developing algorithms for cooperative localization in multi-vehicle systems, optimizing acoustic localization in underwater environments, and advancing robotic autonomy for marine applications. His work integrates sensor networks, path planning, and distributed control systems.
Prominent publications address challenges in autonomous maritime vehicle coordination, acoustic signal optimization, and multi-agent localization drift mitigation. Current grants include a 2024 project developing sovereign autonomous underwater vehicle capabilities.
He has contributed to ecological studies through the CATAMI Classification Scheme for underwater imagery analysis. No formal awards are listed, though his work reflects significant technical contributions in robotics and marine engineering.
