She earned her PhD in Social Anthropology from the University of São Paulo, establishing her foundation in critical anthropological inquiry. Her research program rigorously examines gender dynamics through intersecting lenses of migration, tourism economies, and institutional equality policies, with particular focus on Lusophone communities across Iberia and West Africa.
Professor González specializes in feminist participatory action research methodologies, developing empowerment frameworks for marginalized women in transnational contexts. Her fieldwork since 1998 has centered on Cape Verdean diaspora communities in Galicia and fishing villages on Santiago Island, generating community-driven interventions under international cooperation programs.
She maintains active coordination of participatory projects funded by AECID, Cooperación Galega, and ECOWAS, demonstrating sustained commitment to applied gender research in post-colonial settings. Her work bridges academic theory with grassroots activism through the Networked Research Center for Anthropology (CRIA), where she contributes to interdisciplinary gender and migration scholarship.
