LUIS CASTAÑON LLAMAS

Luis Castaño Llamas is a Professor in the Department of Applied Economics at the University of Santiago de Compostela, affiliated with the Faculty of Administration and Business Management. His research focuses on agri-food economics, environmental economics, rural development, and economic modeling. He is a member of the ECOAGRASOC research group (Agri-food and Environmental Economics, Rural Development and Social Economy) and previously part of the GAME group (Economic Analysis and Modeling Group).

He holds a Doctorate from the University of Santiago de Compostela, completing his thesis titled "The financing of the Galician economy and economic development (1990-1996)" in 2002 under Dr. Edelmiro López Iglesias. His work integrates empirical economic analysis with policy-oriented studies, particularly in regional development contexts.

Notable contributions include applying input-output models to assess tourism's impact on production systems, as demonstrated in his 2007 study on Galicia. His research bridges theoretical economic frameworks with practical applications in agri-food systems and environmental sustainability.
