L. Zambrano

Dr. L. Zambrano is a Lecturer in the Department of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering at South East Technological University (SETU). Formerly an Associate Professor and Researcher at Universidad Simón Bolívar and Universidad Metropolitana in Venezuela (2007–2015), she holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from University College Dublin (2020). Her research focuses on biomechanics, finite element modeling of medical devices, fracture mechanics, and fluid-structure interactions.

Her research interests span biomechanics of hard tissues, design optimization of medical devices, experimental material characterization, and fluid dynamics applications in engineering. Collaborations include work with UiT Narvik (Norway) on fluid mechanics and supervision of biomedical master’s projects at Valencia International University.

Recent research highlights include computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis for biofouling mitigation, fracture mechanics of cranial bones, and sensor placement strategies for sports biomechanics. She co-led a 2024 project on research dissemination related to intrauterine device modeling.
