Dr. L Kirk Hagen is a Professor in the Department of History, Humanities and Languages at the University of Houston-Downtown (UHD). He has taught French language courses (FREN 1401/1402) and humanities courses including Cultural Criticism (HUM 3310/ENG 3340), Foundations of Western Culture, and Field Experience in Humanities.
- PhD in Second Language Acquisition/Teacher Education from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
- MA in French from University of New Mexico
- BA in French & Philosophy from University of New Mexico
His research focuses on second language acquisition through evolutionary linguistics frameworks, with notable work on multimedia language learning. From 1996-2000, he directed a $171,000 U.S. Department of Education grant project for Spanish for Business Professionals multimedia CD-ROMs. He also contributed to Skeptic Magazine from 2001-2007.
