He has held various academic and administrative positions including Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine (2018-2023) and currently serves in multiple committee roles such as University Education Quality Commission Membership, Non-Interventional Ethics Committee Presidency, and Chairman of the Academic Advisory Board.
His educational background includes:
- Medical Specialization at Istanbul Haseki Training and Research Hospital (2005-2010), with thesis on "Comparative results of external dacryocystorhinostomy and transcanalicular multidiode laser dacryocystorhinostomy operations"
- Licence in Medicine from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine (1997-2004)
Dr. Zor's research primarily focuses on ophthalmology with special emphasis on diabetic retinopathy, retinal nerve fiber layer analysis, choroidal thickness measurements, and pupillary responses. His work bridges clinical ophthalmology with broader medical fields including endocrinology, cardiology, psychiatry, and pediatrics. He has made significant contributions to understanding the ocular manifestations of systemic diseases and the application of advanced imaging techniques like Optical Coherence Tomography in diverse patient populations.
His recent publications demonstrate a strong trend toward interdisciplinary research, particularly examining the connections between ocular parameters and systemic conditions such as diabetes, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and cardiovascular health. The use of quantitative pupillometry has emerged as a consistent methodology across multiple studies, showing its utility as a potential biomarker for various neurological and systemic conditions.
Dr. Zor has been principal investigator on several research projects including:
- TUBITAK 3501 project: "Investigation of the Relationship Between Diabetic Retinopathy and Epoxyeicosatrienoic Acid Metabolism" (2020-2023)
- Scientific research project: "Investigation of Serum Trace Element Levels and Related Parameters in Patients with Diabetic Retinopathy" (2020-2024)
- Scientific research project: "Evaluation of Nerve Innervation of the Orbicularis Oculi Muscle Using Sihler's Method" (2022-2023)
His administrative roles reflect deep involvement in medical education quality assurance and ethical oversight within the university, demonstrating commitment to both research excellence and educational standards in ophthalmology.
