Kyung Hae Hwang is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Communicative Sciences and Disorders at New York University’s Steinhardt School. She holds a Ph.D. in Communication Sciences and Disorders, M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology, and M.A. in Applied Linguistics from Teachers College, Columbia University. Licensed in New York and New Jersey, she is certified by ASHA and the TSSLD (with a Korean bilingual extension).
Her clinical experience spans early intervention, NYC public schools, medical settings, and private clinics. She founded the iTalk Speech & Language Center, specializing in bilingual and neurodiverse populations, offering culturally responsive care. She mentors clinical fellows and graduate students and leads community education via the iTalk Forum.
Her research focuses on neurogenic speech disorders, telepractice innovation, and accessibility in clinical services. She aims to bridge clinical practice and research, advocating for inclusive communication for neurodiverse and multilingual individuals.
Awards: 2023 ASHA Convention Meritorious Poster Award.
Professional Contributions: Leadership at iTalk Speech & Language Center, active mentorship, and community engagement through forums and workshops.
