Kyshia Henderson is an Assistant Professor at the University of Chicago and a Provost’s Postdoctoral Fellow on the tenure track. She holds a B.A. in Psychology from the University of California, Los Angeles and a Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Virginia. Her research focuses on how White Americans justify and promote racism through historical context distortion, with a particular emphasis on systemic racism and white supremacy. Her work integrates Critical Race Theory to analyze how historical narratives shape racial attitudes and policies.
Her research lines include examining White Americans’ dismissal of historical truths, distortion of historical timelines to excuse racism, and misuse of historical narratives to oppose systemic racism critiques. Her publications address topics like Confederate monuments, intersectionality, and vaccine hesitancy through a racial equity lens. Collaborations are welcomed, and she is accepting PhD applications for 2025-2026.
No scientific awards are explicitly mentioned in the text. Her work contributes to reimagining historical frameworks for racial progress, and her research website further details her interdisciplinary approach to these issues.
