Kyriaki Topidi is the Head of the Culture & Diversity research cluster at the European Centre for Minority Issues (ECMI), where she has been since 2019. She holds advanced degrees in law and European studies from institutions such as the University of Strasbourg, Queen's University Belfast, and the University of Fribourg. Her academic career includes positions as a Senior Lecturer at the University of Lucerne and Managing Director of the Centre for Comparative Constitutional Law and Religion. She has been a visiting scholar at prestigious institutions like Fordham University, Max Planck Institute, and the National Law School of India.
Her research focuses on minority rights, religious law, and digital governance, particularly addressing online hate speech and minority agency in cultural autonomy frameworks. She has authored/co-edited major works including Minority Rights and Social Change (2023) and Minority Recognition and the Diversity Deficit (2022). Her recent work explores the intersection of minorities with social movements and digital platforms.
Dr. Topidi has contributed to global initiatives like the Global Pluralism Index and serves as Co-Editor of the Routledge Advances in Minority Studies book series. Her expertise spans policy advocacy, comparative constitutional law, and international legal frameworks.
