Kyle Schoppel

Kyle Schoppel, MD, is an Assistant Professor (CHS) in the Departments of Emergency Medicine and Pediatrics at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, School of Medicine and Public Health. He serves as a pediatric emergency medicine physician and team leader at American Family Children’s Hospital Emergency Department, the only dedicated pediatric ED in the region.

Research Interests

Dr. Schoppel’s scholarly work centers on improving pediatric emergency care through innovative education and systems-based interventions. His research portfolio explores simulation-based training for pediatric resuscitation, assessment of leadership skills among emergency medicine residents, identification of curricular gaps in pediatric emergency education, and quality-improvement initiatives that enhance interpreter access and patient safety in the pediatric ED.

Grant Support

He currently serves as Principal Investigator on the Wisconsin STARS: Simulation Training to Advance Rural Prehospital Care for Children project, funded by the Orion Initiative/University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health.

Clinical Practice

At American Family Children’s Hospital, Dr. Schoppel leads a multidisciplinary team providing state-of-the-art emergency care tailored to infants, children, and adolescents. His clinical expertise spans the full spectrum of pediatric emergencies, from minor injuries to life-threatening trauma and critical illness.
