Kyle Perry

Dr. Kyle Perry is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mining and Explosives Engineering at Missouri University of Science and Technology. He also serves as Associate Chair for Academic Affairs and Director of the S&T Experimental Mine. His research focuses on blast-resistant design, mine seal integrity, and coal dust explosion prevention. Perry holds a Ph.D. in Mining Engineering from the University of Kentucky (2010) and a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Missouri (2007).

His work bridges computational modeling (e.g., Material Point Method validation) with experimental testing of structural systems under blast loads. Key projects include evaluating explosion-resistant curtain wall systems, analyzing highwall stability from blasting, and developing hydrophobic rock dust for underground safety. Perry's contributions extend to editorial leadership in ground control research and advancing safe haven wall technologies for coal mines.
