Kyle Greenwalt is an Associate Professor in the Department of Teacher Education at Michigan State University (MSU) and serves as the Associate Director of Teacher Preparation. He holds a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Minnesota, an M.Ed. in Social Studies Education from the same institution, and a B.A. in Philosophy from the University of Chicago.

His research focuses on student and teacher experiences, integrating pragmatism, feminism, and phenomenology. Key areas include the role of schools in nation-building and the educative potential of home/family dynamics in an era of high-stakes education. He directs MSU’s secondary social studies licensure program and edits the Journal of School & Society, a resource for justice-oriented educators.
Greenwalt has taught high school English in rural Hungary and social studies in a PK-12 Minnesota school. He is deeply involved in preparing teachers for democratic education and advocates for educational equity. Beyond academia, he is a father of three and enjoys activities like coaching, gardening, and yoga.
