Kyle D. Logue is the Douglas A. Kahn Collegiate Professor of Law at the University of Michigan Law School. He has served in multiple administrative roles, including interim dean from January 2024 to July 2025 and associate dean for academic affairs (2006–2008) and faculty/research (2022–2023). His scholarly work spans torts, tax, and insurance law, with a focus on interdisciplinary approaches involving economics, psychology, and philosophy.
Education: Auburn University (BA, summa cum laude in Political Science, 1987), Yale Law School (JD, 1990). He clerked for Judge Patrick Higginbotham of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit (1990–1991) before joining Michigan Law in 1993.
Research interests include the interplay of public/private law and insurance regimes in addressing risks, consumer insurance contract clarity, and racial equity in insurance practices. He co-authored the leading casebook Insurance Law and Policy: Cases and Materials (5th ed., 2021) and contributed to the ALI’s Restatement of Liability Insurance (2018).
Notable awards include membership in the American Law Institute since 2010 and recognition for his scholarship on insurance law and policy.
