Kwame Edwin Otu is an Associate Professor in the African Studies Program at Georgetown University's Edmund Walsh School of Foreign Service. As a cultural anthropologist, his research examines the intersections of sexuality, environmental justice, and racial politics in contemporary Africa. His work bridges African philosophy, Black feminisms, and diaspora studies to analyze neoliberal and neocolonial dynamics.
Research Focus:
- Queer self-making and homophobia in Ghana, explored in his monograph Amphibious Subjects (UC Press).
- E-waste ecologies and Africa's role in global extraction/deposition cycles through his ongoing project The Salvage Slot.
- Critical analysis of sexual citizenship, environmental racism, and technological inequities.
