Kurt M. Dahlstrom

Kurt M. Dahlstrom is an Assistant Professor of Microbiology at the University of Georgia. His research focuses on understanding microbial communities in agricultural systems to enhance crop resilience against disease and environmental stressors. He is affiliated with the Faculty Sponsor Dianne K. Newman.

Education: B.S. Biological Sciences (University of Chicago), Ph.D. Microbiology (Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth). Postdoctoral research at Caltech explored root microbiome dynamics in food crops.

Research Interests: Sustainable agriculture, bacterial signaling pathways, and manipulation of microbial communities to improve crop yield and sustainability. Key focus areas include plant-microbe interactions and drought resistance mechanisms.

Awards: Resnick Postdoctoral Fellow (2017).

Current Work: Investigating how microbial communities influence plant health and developing strategies to optimize agricultural productivity through microbiome engineering.
