Kurt Lavetti is an Associate Professor in the Department of Economics at Ohio State University, currently on leave as a visiting scholar at Stanford University's Economics Department until Summer 2025. He is also a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) and a Research Fellow at the Institute for the Study of Labor (IZA).
His research focuses on empirical, policy-relevant questions in health and labor economics, particularly the design and value of health insurance plans, compensating wage differentials, job mobility determinants, non-competition contracts, and physician labor markets. His work often bridges theoretical economic models with real-world policy implications.
Kurt's recent publications highlight his expertise in health insurance economics, labor market dynamics, and healthcare policy. Key themes include the impacts of non-competition agreements on worker mobility, the valuation of Medicaid expansions, and the interplay between wage compensation and occupational risk.
