Kurt Gedrich

Prof. Kurt Gedrich is a Professor at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), leading the Public Health Nutrition group within the TARGET - Institute for Food & Health. His research focuses on improving health through dietary interventions, including methods to record food consumption patterns and strategies to combat malnutrition. Previously, he held roles at the Chair of Marketing and Consumer Research (until 2011), the Chair of Nutritional Physiology (2012-2019), and became a member of ZIEL Institute in 2019. His work bridges nutritional science, public health, and global health equity.

Education: Studied nutritional science at TUM, earned a doctorate in nutritional economics (1996), and habilitation in nutritional behavior (2005). Key contributions include the DAFNE project on household dietary data, HECTOR studies on dining locations, and PARI initiatives on personalized nutrition in Africa.

Research emphasizes personalized nutrition, dietary assessment tools, and the impact of sleep and lifestyle on nutrition. Collaborations span global health projects and technological innovations like the Nutrilize app.
