Kundan Nepal

Kundan Nepal serves as a Professor in the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering within the School of Engineering at the University of St. Thomas, where he has been a faculty member since fall 2011 after previously teaching at Bucknell University, PA.

His academic credentials include:

• PhD from Brown University
• MSEE from University of Southern California
• BSEE from Trinity College

Professor Nepal's research spans defect/fault tolerant circuits, nanometer-scale VLSI design, reconfigurable computing, mobile robotics, and embedded systems with IoT applications. He actively pursues democratization of embedded technologies to solve problems in traditionally under-served communities, resulting in multiple student co-authored peer-reviewed publications across these domains.

He mentors students through research collaborations that yield co-authored publications and teaches core courses including Introduction to Engineering Design, Digital Design, and Embedded Systems, with Fall 2025 instruction in ENGR 431 covering hardware-software co-design, real-time DSP, and hardware acceleration techniques.
