Kunal Singhal

Kunal Singhal is an Associate Professor and Associate Program Director of PT Programs at the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences (USAHS), located in Austin, Texas. He holds dual credentials as a Physical Therapist (PT) and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Kinesiology. His roles combine academic leadership, teaching in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program, and active research.

Dr. Singhal earned his Bachelor of Physical Therapy from Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) in India, followed by a PhD in Kinesiology (Biomechanics) from Texas Woman’s University. He furthered his training through a post-doctoral fellowship in Osteopathic and Manipulative Medicine at the Human Performance Lab of the University of North Texas Health Science Center. His research integrates biomechanical principles with clinical practice, focusing on gait analysis, balance/postural control in movement disorders, and outcomes for patients with amputations or foot drop caused by neural trauma or disease.

He leads two Department of Defense-funded projects: one evaluating novel devices for amputee functional outcomes (completed) and another assessing interventions for foot drop (ongoing). His work emphasizes translating physics, mathematics, and neurophysiological insights into practical clinical solutions. As an educator, he has over five years of experience teaching future physical therapists, blending theoretical knowledge with real-world applications. He maintains active licensure as a physical therapist, specializing in adult rehabilitation for falls and balance-related issues.
