Krzysztof Narkiewicz

Krzysztof Narkiewicz is a Professor at the Medical University of Gdańsk, heading the Department of Hypertension and Diabetology. His career spans over 25 years in clinical and translational cardiovascular research, with international experience at the University of Iowa College of Medicine.

Research focus includes neuroregulation of the cardiovascular system, metabolic syndrome, and obesity-related hypertension. He pioneered studies on sympathetic nervous system interactions in sleep apnea and cardiovascular diseases.

Scientific contributions encompass 300+ full-text publications (Impact Factor >800, H-index: 42) and leadership roles in developing European hypertension guidelines (2007 & 2013). His work on renal sympathetic denervation and baroreflex activation therapy has significantly advanced resistant hypertension treatment.
