معرفی
Dr. Krystyna Saunders is a Research Scientist in the Environmental Change Program at ANSTO (Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation) and serves as an Adjunct Researcher at the University of Tasmania's Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies. She specializes in paleoenvironmental reconstruction using sedimentary lake records to analyze climate and ecosystem changes over geological timescales.
Her research focuses on:
- Southern Hemisphere westerly wind variability
- High-resolution precipitation/temperature reconstructions
- Palaeoecological techniques in estuarine environments
- Diatom-based environmental assessments
- Impacts of human activity and climate change on sub-Antarctic ecosystems
Dr. Saunders holds a BSc in Geography (University of Tasmania, 2001), First Class Honours in Antarctic Studies (2002), and a PhD in Palaeoecology from the University of Tasmania (2008) titled 'Palaeoecology as a management tool for Australian ecosystems'.
Major scientific recognitions include:
- ANSTO-University of Wollongong Seed Grant (2018-2019)
- Australian Antarctic Science Grants (2009-2012, 2012-2019)
- Swiss National Science Foundation Ambizione Fellowship (2012-2015)
- Marie-Curie International Incoming Fellowship (2009-2011)
