Krystyn R. Moon is a Professor of History and American Studies at the University of Mary Washington. She specializes in US immigration history, popular culture, race and ethnic studies, and gender and sexuality. Her work bridges academic research with public engagement, including collaborations with the Office of Historic Alexandria and the Consortium of Public Liberal Arts Colleges (COPLAC).

Her research focuses on racialized representations in popular culture, immigration policy, and the intersection of consumerism and ethnic identity. She has authored a book on yellowface in American music and numerous articles on topics ranging from anti-Japanese propaganda music to African American housing struggles in Virginia. Her current work examines how public history can complicate understandings of race relations and immigration.
Notable projects include the oral history initiative ‘Immigrant Alexandria: Past, Present, and Future’ funded by Virginia Humanities. She serves as President of the Alexandria Historical Society and previously led the Southeastern Regional Chapter of the American Studies Association.
