Kristián Kohút is an Assistant Professor and researcher at the Department of Dance Creation, Faculty of Music and Dance, Slovak Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts in Bratislava. He also works at the Research Center of the Faculty. His roles include teaching classical dance and researching dance methodologies.
- Education:
- Graduated from the Eva Jaczová Dance Conservatory in Bratislava (1997).
- Completed a degree at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava (2009).
- Doctoral studies with a dissertation on George Balanchine's technique in dance education (defended at the same institution).
Research Interests: Focus on classical ballet pedagogy, Balanchine’s technique, neoclassical dance styles, Slovak dance history, and the dramaturgy of ballet performances. He actively contributes to mapping Slovak dance personalities and co-authored studies on the Slovak National Theatre Ballet.
Professional Contributions: Served as a performer with the Slovak National Theatre Ballet (until 2009), later as their Marketing Coordinator. Led practical seminars on neoclassical dance in Brno and Liptovský Hrádek. Since 2021, Chief Dramaturge of the Slovak National Ballet. Collaborates on international ballet galas and contributes reviews to Tempo and Tanec magazines.
