Kristin Skrabut is Assistant Professor of Urban and Environmental Policy and Anthropology at Tufts University, with a faculty affiliation in Latin American Studies. Her research employs anthropological theory and ethnographic methods to analyze how state policies and transnational phenomena impact everyday lives, identities, relationships, and urban environments.

Research Focus: Skrabut investigates intersections of poverty, governance, and intimacy through two major projects: Extreme Lives: Poverty and Intimacy in Urban Peru (examining poverty interventions' effects on informal economies and urban development) and Biometrics, Digital Modernity, and the Margins of the State (studying biometric surveillance's impact on political engagement in the Global South). Her work spans urban anthropology, infrastructure, gender, and legal-political systems.
Professional Background: Prior to Tufts, she served as Lecturer of Social Studies at Harvard University and Visiting Research Fellow in Cities and Development at the London School of Economics.
