Dr. Kristin Layous is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at California State University, East Bay (CSUEB). Her research focuses on brief psychological interventions to enhance well-being, particularly through gratitude, kindness, and social belonging. She explores how positive activities can help individuals overcome adversity and develop resilience. Dr. Layous has published extensively in journals such as Emotion, Journal of Positive Psychology, and Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin.
Her work emphasizes cross-cultural comparisons, as seen in studies contrasting U.S. and South Korean populations. Recent projects include investigating nostalgia’s role in well-being and analyzing the psychological impact of the pandemic on healthcare workers. She also contributes to workplace well-being initiatives, demonstrating how positive interventions can improve employee behavior and happiness.
Layous’s research spans experimental designs, longitudinal analyses, and randomized controlled trials. She collaborates with international teams and has authored book chapters on happiness interventions and psychological health in workplaces.
