Kristin Holodak is an Associate Professor in Digital Media and Performing Arts at Marquette University’s Diederich College of Communication. She specializes in film production, directing, and editing, with a focus on narrative and documentary filmmaking. Her academic roles include directing the Marquette Student Film Festival, advising Film Club, and serving on university-wide committees on teaching and honors.
Dr. Holodak holds an MFA in Film Production from Boston University, an MS in Corporate Communication from Ithaca College, and a BA in Broadcasting from SUNY Oswego. Her professional experience spans over 15 years in digital media creation for organizations like the Kennedy Center, Smithsonian Institution, and National Geographic.
Her research interests include cinematography, scriptwriting, and advanced editing techniques. Notable works include the award-winning films *X’ed Out* (2021), *Insomnia* (2020), and *Young of the Year* (2018), which have screened at festivals globally. She has also received prestigious awards such as the 2021 Diederich College Scholar of the Year and the Dean’s Award for Teaching Excellence (2018).
Dr. Holodak teaches courses like Advanced Production & Portfolio, Corporate Media, and Cinematography. Her grants include funding for documentaries like *WanderMKE* and *Enid’s Wall*. She actively contributes to professional organizations such as Women in Film & Video and the University Film and Video Association.
Her advising work spans independent student projects in scriptwriting, documentary production, and genre filmmaking, with a focus on fostering inclusive and engaged learning environments.
