Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciencesمعرفی
Dr. Kristin H Gilchrist serves as an Assistant Professor of Radiology & Radiological Sciences at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USU) and Associate Director of Research for the USU Center for Biotechnology (4DBio3). With two decades of experience applying engineering to biomedical challenges, she focuses on enhancing Warfighter readiness through advanced biotechnologies.
Her educational credentials include:
- Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University
- M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University
- B.E. in Biomedical and Electrical Engineering from Vanderbilt University
Dr. Gilchrist's research centers on Tissue Engineering, Organ-On-Chip Models, and Biofabrication, with current projects developing bioprinting solutions for military-relevant exposures and musculoskeletal injuries. Her prior work at RTI International pioneered wearable sensor systems for pre-symptomatic respiratory illness detection, mild traumatic brain injury assessment, and pediatric seizure monitoring, demonstrating translational applications from lab to battlefield.
Leading the 4DBio3 research team, she directs biomanufacturing initiatives that bridge microscale device engineering with clinical military medicine, creating organ-on-chip platforms to simulate Warfighter physiological responses under operational stressors while advancing regenerative solutions for combat injuries.
