Kristin F. Phillips

Kristin F. Phillips is an Associate Professor in the School of Neuroscience at Virginia Tech. She holds a B.S. in Psychology from Virginia Tech and a Ph.D. in Pharmacology and Toxicology from Virginia Commonwealth University. Her academic roles emphasize curriculum development and instruction in neuroscience courses.

Research Focus: Phillips investigates neuropharmacology and neurotoxicology, with emphasis on epileptogenesis, Gulf War Illness (GWI), and calcium dysregulation in neurological disorders. Her work explores neuroprotective strategies against organophosphate toxicity and develops therapeutic interventions for chronic conditions like GWI, addressing symptoms such as cognitive deficits, depression, and inflammation.

Teaching: She actively teaches diverse courses including NEUR 1004 (Neuroscience Orientation), NEUR 2464 (Neuroscience and Society), NEUR 3944 (War and the Brain), and advanced seminars on neurological diseases and global neuroscience.
