Kristin E. Brzeski is an Associate Professor at the College of Forest Resources and Environmental Science, Michigan Technological University. Her work focuses on conservation genetics, canid genomics, and applied conservation strategies in Central Africa. She holds a Ph.D. from Louisiana State University, an M.S. from Humboldt State University, and a B.S. from Loyola University Chicago.
Her research integrates genomic tools to address wildlife management challenges, including population genetics of endangered species like red wolves, urban wildlife adaptation, and disease ecology. Collaborative projects involve the Biodiversity Initiative and Gulf Coast Canine Project. Her lab emphasizes practical applications of genomics for conservation and ecological studies.
Recent publications highlight studies on red wolf genomic ancestry, coyote population expansion, and urban fox genetics. These works underscore the role of genomics in understanding species adaptation and conservation.
