Dr. Kristin Doran is an Associate Professor of Practice in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at the University of Arizona. She holds roles as a Faculty Affiliate in Latin American Studies and member of the W.A. Franke Honors College Faculty Advisory Board. Her PhD in Spanish and Luso-Brazilian Literature was earned at the University of Arizona.
Her professional focus emphasizes student success through innovative teaching methodologies, including project-based, reflective, and inquiry-based learning. She previously directed the Spanish Basic Language Program, implementing Universal Design for Learning principles and mentoring initiatives that increased enrollment and reduced student costs.
Research interests center on pedagogical strategies and experiential learning, with a commitment to academic and professional student development. Awards include the 2021 College of Humanities advising distinction.
Teaching spans undergraduate Spanish/Portuguese language courses, literature analysis, and honors thesis supervision. She currently teaches SPAN 325, 350, and 498H.
