Kristin A. Barbour serves as an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Theatre at Grove City College, teaching courses including Introduction to the Theatre, Stagecraft, and Design for the Theatre within the Theatre department.
Her educational credentials include a B.A. from Northwestern College, an M.A. from the University of Kansas, and a Ph.D. from Kent State University. She maintains active membership in the Association for Theatre in Higher Education.
Dr. Barbour's research centers on European theatre history from the 17th to 19th centuries, with specialized focus on temporal perception shifts in narrative performance and the semiotics of visual elements—particularly bodily presentation and fashion—within theatrical contexts. Her expertise spans Dramatic Literature, Theatre History, and Costume Design, examining intersections between textual narratives and visual symbolism.
Her professional trajectory includes international teaching experience as an Instructor in English and Theatre at Presbyterian Bible College in Taiwan (1982-83), costume design roles at Northwestern College, and technical theatre work as a stitcher at prominent institutions including Lamb's Players Theatre and the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego during the mid-1980s. She has held adjunct teaching positions at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania and Northwestern College.
Outside academia, she actively participates in dance classes, sings in her church choir, and maintains strong engagement with literary pursuits.
