Krister Shalm

Krister Shalm is an experimental quantum physicist affiliated with the Quantum Nanophotonics Group at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). His research focuses on leveraging the quantum properties of light to advance quantum networking technologies and entanglement studies.

His work includes leading a landmark 2015 experimental demonstration of a loophole-free Bell test, which has garnered international recognition. Research interests span quantum foundations, device-independent protocols, and applications of randomness in quantum systems.

He earned a PhD in Physics from the University of Toronto in 2010 and conducted postdoctoral work at the Institute for Quantum Computing in Waterloo, Canada. Krister is actively engaged in quantum research, with affiliations to NIST's labs and teams developing cutting-edge technologies.
