Professor Kristen Pammer is the Head of the School of Psychology at the University of Newcastle. She holds qualifications from the University of Wollongong and the University of New South Wales, specializing in science, psychology, and neuroanatomy. Her research focuses on applied cognitive psychology, particularly visual attention mechanisms in reading, dyslexia, driving hazards, and the implications of autonomous vehicles. She has pioneered brain imaging studies using magnetoencephalography (MEG) to explore neural correlates of reading deficits and driving safety.
Research Contributions:
- Developed Australia’s first MEG machine through LIEF funding.
- Collaborated nationally on driver training programs for emergency services and novice drivers.
