Kristen Hammel is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Social Work at the Yale School of Medicine’s Child Study Center. She holds primary affiliation with the Child Study Center and is involved with the Childhood Trauma Program and Pre-doctoral Internship in Psychology. Her work focuses on trauma-informed care for children exposed to caregiver intimate partner violence.
Education: Master of Social Work (MSW) from New York University (2005).
Research interests include evaluating healthcare responses to children in violent households, barriers to trauma care, and implementation of trauma-informed practices. Her 2023 study explored clinical barriers and facilitators in pediatric evaluations following caregiver violence.
