Kristen Beckler

Kristen Beckler is a Lecturer in the Department of Child & Adolescent Development at San Francisco State University, part of the College of Health & Social Sciences. She holds dual certifications as a Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) and Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS). Currently, she serves as a Child Life Specialist III and Student Program Coordinator at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital in San Francisco, leading the Comfort Promise initiative to reduce needle-related pain for pediatric patients.

Her educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville; a Master’s in Education in Information Science and Learning Technologies (Educational Technology) from the University of Missouri; and a Certificate in Educational Leadership from the University of California, San Francisco.

Beckler’s professional interests focus on pediatric healthcare environments, child wellness, and the integration of technology in education. She actively contributes to the field through her role on the board of directors at Spindrift School of the Performing Arts, advocating for youth performers’ well-being. Her work bridges clinical practice, educational innovation, and community engagement.
