Kristen Anderson is a Research Fellow at James Cook University's ARC Centre of Excellence for Coral Reef Studies. She holds a PhD (2016) and has conducted extensive research on coral growth dynamics, climate change impacts, and reef resilience. Her work spans from Lord Howe Island to the Great Barrier Reef, focusing on environmental drivers affecting coral physiology and calcification.
Key research themes include spatiotemporal variation in coral growth, climate change stressors (warming/acidification), and historical comparisons of coral health. She has contributed to global assessments of coral reef resilience and published in journals like Coral Reefs, Science, and Scientific Reports.
Anderson has received awards including the Lizard Island Fellowship (2018–2020) and multiple travel/grant awards for fieldwork and conferences. Her research bridges laboratory experiments and large-scale ecological monitoring to inform reef management strategies under climate change.
