Krista L. Kaups

Krista L. Kaups, MD, MSc, FACS is a Professor of Clinical Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), with a focus on UCSF Fresno. She serves as the Director of the Surgical Intensive Care Unit at Community Regional Medical Center and Program Director of the Surgical Critical Care Fellowship at the UCSF Fresno Center for Medical Education and Research. Her career spans clinical practice, education, and global health initiatives.

Recent articles highlight her work on pancreatic and kidney injury scales, blood program efficiency, and lifelong surgical competency.

She is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and actively participates in organizations like the Society of Critical Care Medicine, American Association for the Surgery of Trauma, and International Surgical Society/IATSIC. Her international volunteer work includes teaching trauma courses and ICU management in South Sudan, Kenya, Afghanistan, Albania, Sierra Leone, and Thailand.
