Kris Fallon is an Associate Professor in the Department of Cinema and Digital Media at the University of California, Davis, with affiliations in Science & Technology Studies. He is based in 224A Cruess Hall and can be reached at kfallon@ucdavis.edu.
Education:
- Ph.D. from University of California, Berkeley
His research centers on non-fiction visual culture across platforms, including still photography, documentary film, and data visualization. His work explores how digital technologies reshape truth, representation, and documentary practices, particularly in the aftermath of 9/11. He engages with interdisciplinary frameworks from film studies, media theory, and science & technology studies (STS), emphasizing the cultural and political implications of visual media.
His recent essays have appeared in Film Quarterly and Screen, with additional contributions forthcoming in academic anthologies. The recurring themes in his publications include digital documentary, truth and representation, media ethics, and the impact of technology on narrative forms. His current book project, Where Truth Lies: Digital Culture and Documentary Film After 9/11, synthesizes these interests into a critical examination of post-9/11 media landscapes.
