Professor Kostas Skenderis holds the Chair in Mathematical Physics at the University of Southampton. His research focuses on theoretical physics, particularly the AdS/CFT correspondence, holography, quantum gravity, and cosmology. He explores topics such as conformal field theories in curved spacetime, renormalization techniques, and applications to de Sitter and anti-de Sitter spacetimes.
His work bridges high-energy physics and cosmology, with contributions to holographic cosmology, quantum field theory on curved backgrounds, and the study of black hole microstates. Current research includes developing embedding formalisms for CFTs in general states and investigating IR divergences in holographic setups.
Professor Skenderis supervises PhD students in Mathematical Sciences and Physics, focusing on advanced topics like momentum-space CFT correlators and AdS amplitudes. He has presented invited talks, including on the 'ambient space formalism' in 2023. His publications span journals like Journal of High Energy Physics and Physical Review D.
